No fruit? Let’s plant trees! 🌳
This year brought record drought and an early end to Colorado's irrigation season. This followed a spring freeze event that wiped out our fruit crop. While we can't hold our traditional community juicing day, we refuse to sit idle.
Instead, we are planning for an ever-arid future and unpredictable growing seasons by building long-term resilience. Supported by the CDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, Seas of Trees, and the NRCS, we are planting 10 new acres of rare and endangered apples at the Orchard Hub this season. This expansion will showcase water conservation and drought tolerant ground cover as we conserve agricultural diversity.
Please join us for a Community Planting & Orchard Resilience Day!
