Mattie looked forward each December to creating a final poem that would echo the year that was ending. He also was excited about creating a first poem each January - to welcome the future.

Below is "Resolution Blessing" - which Mattie penned on New Year's Day 2003, when he was 12 years old.

The poem is a passionate plea for us to use our senses and spirits carefully, so that we touch the world and the future gently. Though this poem is more than 20 years old, the message rings true today as we move into 2025.

It is also a very fitting message for this end-of-year e-Peace Update as we transition from our 2024 theme - "A Time for Hope," and move forthward with our 2025 theme: "A Time for Compassion."

Thank you to all who have taken a look at our new website (www.MattiesPeaceFoundation.org). We are excited to continue adding new pages across the next few months. Pages currently in development include "About Mattie," "About Mama Peace (Jeni)," "Our Partners4Peace," and "Peace Certification," - with more pages in the queue after that.

A special thank you to the folks who made end-of-year gifts to support our work, including Lynn Scalzi-Anderson, Monique Ashton, Brian Orentreich, Anthony Scardino, Glen Smith, Lola Whalen, Richard Wong, Chitra Vijayakumar, Rob Windrem from the United States; Noah Striker from Canada; and, Tommy & Joan McGurrell from Ireland.

And a mega-special shout out to the folks who make a monthly donation, including Andrew Greer, Mary Elizabeth Hill, Randi Kristensen, Jerome Nash, Gidon Wagner, and Rob WIndrem (yes - Rob gives a little each month and also made an end-of-year donation!)

There is still time to folks to make a 100 percent tax-deductible gift for 2024. It is because of your generosity that our mission successfully continues.
