October 2026 Newsletter

It's been a busy start to the school year for our Ottawa Hills instrumental music members. Our high school band has been marching hard through the fall, the elementary band is tuning up, and the junior high band is preparing for their debut at the Fall Collage Concert.

Don't forget to join us for our next Membership Meeting on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00 pm in the JHHS music room.

We also hope to see you at Band Spirit Night during the final home football game of the season on Friday, October 9th. (This is also Senior Night--see the graphic below for the schedule of events.) Be sure to stop by the OHBBO table to pick up your spirit BANDana!

Homecoming, 2026

Our high school marching band led the Village Life Homecoming Parade through the village and enjoyed a quick dinner before taking the field for the homecoming game against Gibsonburg. Leading a parade can create some hungry band members! Thankfully, we had some amazing sponsors to help feed our marching band between the parade and start of the football game. Thank you to Mike and Linda Topor for providing pizza and to OHSPA for providing Chick-fil-A nuggets for our hungry band members.

Volunteer Update

So far this year our volunteers have donated over 25 hours of their time to various band activities. Special thanks goes to the following volunteers: Juliana Frost-Olah, Jennifer Kapadia, Marcy O'Loughlin, Marcia Kozy, Nicole Mclennan, Hyungsuk Choo, Angela Elzawahry, Heather Phillips, Sarah Ritchey, Emily Mullan, Amanda Harpster-Hagen, Tracy Fall, Kara Kile, Jessica Mallett, and David Park.

Join the OHBBO team!

We are looking for more friendly faces to help us support our musicians! We currently have needs for:

• Social media liaisons: Love sharing student success? We are looking for 3 people to work our social media--one for elementary band, one for junior high and high school band, and one to cover general band information.

• Fundraising committee: Join the fundraising committee and help us brainstorm and execute projects to raise funds for our band needs!

• Activities committee: We are looking for both a lead and members to plan celebrations and community-building among our band family.

• Alumni outreach: The OH Band Family also includes former band students and their families. Help us connect with past graduates, and stay connected to the soon to be graduating class of 2026!

Business Update

WOW! Because of our donors' generosity last winter and spring, OHBBO was able to fund repairs for many instruments, purchase some replacement bibbers for the marching band, and buy new mallets and stick bags for the percussionists. Many many thanks to our incredible donors!

We are looking forward to continuing this momentum into the 2026-2027 school year!
