2025 is off to a great start for Songea's Kids! We're thrilled to share some of the highlights:
Exciting Developments at Hope Village:
- New homes for children: The children are filled with excitement as they prepare to move into their new orphan residences. With the new playground and soccer field in place, there will be plenty of fun times ahead. Their joy is truly heartwarming!
- New income-generating enterprises: Hope Village continues to launch new enterprises to support the children's nutrition and overall sustainability. In addition to growing maize and planting fruit trees, they have opened a chicken farm and a beekeeping enterprise! These initiatives will not only provide income but also additional nutrition for the children.
- Brand-new laundry facility: A new laundry facility is now operational, enhancing daily life at Hope Village.
Child Sponsorship Program Highlights:
New Sponsors Make a Difference:
Four children in urgent need have found sponsors, bringing them vital security and ensuring their basic and educational needs are met. This incredible support will transform their lives and open doors to a brighter future!
Educational Milestones:
Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. When students graduate from our program, we want that they have the knowledge, skills and ability to become self-supporting. Whether they opt for vocational training or pursue a college/university degree, once they graduate, they can build better futures for themselves and their families. 2024 was a fabulous year of celebration as 5 students graduated from college/university and 10 graduated from vocational training and are now beginning their careers. Thus far in 2025:
- 21 bright primary school students celebrated their success as they passed their exams and transitioned to secondary school.
- One student took a significant step towards a skilled career by embarking on vocational training in mechanics.
- Another student achieved a remarkable milestone by passing the national examination to qualify for college!
- Our new education centers are gearing up to provide supplemental education on Saturdays, offering extra support in math, science, and English to children who need it.
These achievements highlight the dedication and hard work of our students and the support of our community!
Spotlight: Shakila Ranks #1 in Class
We are thrilled to celebrate Shakila's outstanding academic achievement! When Shakila joined our program in 2023, she faced significant challenges. Her mother, unable to provide for her care, left her in the care of a neighbor. Without the support of a generous sponsor, the neighbor would not have been able to provide her with basic needs and education. Today, with a dedicated sponsor, Shakila is thriving. Despite being in an overcrowded government school with limited resources, Shakila's determination to succeed and her hard work have propelled her to the very top of her class. Congratulations, Shakila!

Day of Service: Make a Difference in Sammamish, WA (May 3rd)
Join Songea's Kids in the Seattle area's Day of Service on May 3rd! This is your chance to make a tangible impact by assembling first aid kits for the 150+ children we support. We'll be filling the kits with essential supplies and writing personalized notes to each child, spreading love and care across the miles.

Donate items: Contribute by donating items from our Amazon wish lists for first aid supplies, soccer balls and jump ropes. We will be hand-delivering these items to the children in Tanzania, ensuring they receive the support they need.

Each year, our Songea's Kids community comes together to celebrate the incredible work we've accomplished together and to raise vital funds for the children.
