🎉Looking Back at Fall 2025 🎉

We’re all about creating a special community that helps inspire and educate our kids. 

From big events to enriching experiences, here are some highlights of what your PA has supported and sponsored since the start of the school year. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated and cheered:

FOR STUDENTS: Math Games Night, Monster Mash, Summer Chinese Bingo Challenge, 2nd Grade Music Program, 3rd Grade Recorder Instruction, 7th Grade Museum of the City of NY trip.

FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF: Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Mini-Grant Funding, Holiday Gifts from Doughnut Plant.

FOR PARENTS: Chinese at Home Tech Sessions, H.S. Student Panels for Middle School Families, Back-to-School Potluck, Emergency Food Assistance for Shuang Wen Families, Chinese Language Playbook

And it’s not too late to make your tax-deductible donation in 2025!  With $19,000 in direct parent donations since September, we are 70% of the way to our annual goal of $27,500. Help us reach our goal.

📚Book Fairs 📚

On your bookmarks, get set, GO!  

The Scholastic Book Fair is January 12th - 16th, 

Parent shopping hours: Thursday, January 15th from 2:40-5:00 pm. Click here for updates.   You can set up an e-wallet for your child (beginning December 22nd).

🥮 Lunar New Year Gala & Silent Auction Kickoff 🥮

The second annual Lunar New Year Gala is coming up on February 27. 

This event will also kick off bidding for our 9th Annual Lunar New Year Silent Auction, the PA’s biggest fundraiser. 

Early bird tickets will be available in January. Details to come!

🤳Fifth Grade Yearbook Photos🤳

Parent volunteers are collecting photos of this year's 5th graders through the years in this Google folder. Specifically, 5th grade parents are requested to submit:

• Baby headshot – please label with your child’s name

• Current 5th grade photo – label with name

• Photos from previous years – upload to the appropriate year folder

Parents and students will start designing the yearbook pages after the holidays. If you or your 5th grader want to participate, let Dina (Gus's mom) know at [email protected].

🍪 Recent Events 🍪

Thanks for the smiles! School Picture Days for 3K through 7th grade were picture perfect! 

8th graders will be photographed with cap and gown on February 5, which is also retake day. 

If your child missed photo day or needs a do-over, watch for a message from the school about how to sign up for retakes.

The Fall Bake Sale was a scrumptious success, raising $1,723 to support Shuang Wen students! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, baked and munched!

On behalf of all parents, the PA gave holiday gift cards and Doughnut Plant mini-donuts to every teacher, staff, and administrator at Shuang Wen. We thank them for making our kids’ school days so sweet in 2025!

👋 Get Involved 👋

Join the PA team and volunteer for these upcoming events, activities, and fundraisers! 

Holiday Hot Chocolate Celebration, December 22nd: We’ll be serving hot chocolate and cookies to all kids at lunch. Email Stephanie and Maryann at [email protected] if you are available to help between 11:30-1:30.

Lunar New Year Gala, February 27th: We’d love help with decorations, marketing, setup and more. Contact Ada Robinson at [email protected]. 

Silent Auction, February 27th-March 8th: Contact [email protected] if you would like to donate or can help with soliciting donations.

Chinese Games Night, March 13th: This is an exciting new event! Contact Grace and Kaia at [email protected] to help plan!

💰Approved Funding Requests💰

At our December 17th meeting, parents voted to approve:

✍️Chinese notebooks for students in middle school, 2nd and 3rd grade

📚Literacy instruction books to support students in need of extra help with reading comprehension and writing skills

🗓️Student planners for all middle schoolers in the 2026-27 school year

➗AMC 8 (American Mathematics Competitions) fees for middle schoolers

The PA has set aside $10,000 in mini-grants funding for teacher- and staff-proposed projects and purchases for the benefit of Shuang Wen students! 

If your child’s classroom teacher has an idea or need, please encourage them to apply!

家長志工正在透過 Google 資料夾蒐集本年度五年級學生的成長照片。
請五年級家長協助上傳以下照片：

• 嬰兒時期正面照（請標註學生姓名）

• 目前五年級照片（標註姓名）

• 歷年校園照片（請上傳至對應年份資料夾）

假期後將開始進行紀念冊版面設計。

🍪 近期活動回顧 🍪

📸 3K–7 年級的校園拍照日圓滿完成，孩子們的笑容令人難忘！
🎓 8 年級將於 2 月 5 日 穿著畢業服拍照，當天亦為補拍日。
若孩子錯過或需要重拍，請留意學校後續通知。

🥧 秋季義賣烘焙活動大成功！共募得 $1,723，感謝所有志工、烘焙達人與支持的家庭！

在 12 月 17 日 的家長會議中，家長投票通過以下項目：

✍️ 中學、二年級與三年級學生中文筆記本
📚 支援閱讀理解與寫作的教師專業書籍
🗓️ 2026–27 學年全體中學生學習計畫本
➗ AMC 8（美國數學競賽）報名費

此外，家長會已預留 $10,000 作為教師與職員提出之小額補助計畫。
