Dear LTC Community,
Earlier this year, we shared with you that the Latinx Theatre Commons (LTC) would be embarking on a new phase of independent operations, which you can read about here.
This community has been—and continues to be—at the forefront of our minds as we have navigated this transition period. The LTC remains committed to serving Latine artists and fulfilling the programming slate we curated through 2027.
What is the programming slate?
You can read the full announcement here. From now until 2027, the LTC has some exciting programming ahead!
In 2026, we are producing the Carnaval of New Latinx Musicals in San Diego, CA, co-championed by Maria Patrice Amon and Lisa Portes. Later this fall, we will release a request for proposals to submit new Latine musicals for consideration. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter and social media to be the first to know when this opportunity is available.
We will also be partnering with the following programs:
-
Actor Training Laboratorio (March 2026, Madison, WI)
-
Candela Playwriting Fellowship (Summer 2026, New York, NY)
In 2027, the LTC will return to Washington, D.C., for the first time since 2012.
We will produce A Forum on the Future: Language, Technology, and Provocations in Multilingual Theatermaking. This event will gather artists, scholars, and industry professionals in the nation’s capital to discuss the past, present, and future of translinguistic theatermaking.

Is the mission of the LTC still the same?
Yes, the LTC continues to be a national movement that uses a commons-based approach to transform the narrative of the American theatre, to amplify the visibility of Latinx performance making, and to champion equity through advocacy, art making, convening, and scholarship.
Is there a central place for all of this information?
We have built an interim website! Visit us at www.ltcommons.org.
Our new interim website was designed for an informational overview and access to crucial programming of the LTC. During this next phase of operations, we will engage in mindful strategic planning to design the LTC’s long-term online platform. Stay tuned for our new look soon!
We are also on Instagram @latinxtheatrecommons and Facebook—join our Facebook group!
Our updates are always shared via our newsletters, so make sure to subscribe if you aren’t already.
We’re looking forward to this next chapter!
