Simpson Housing Services: Pay it forward. Be a mentor.
None of us would be where we are without the coaches, teachers, bosses, and community members who supported us, and YNPN-TC is a staunch supporter of continuing education. Now you can be that support for others! Simpson Housing Services has two opportunities to support young people to meet their inherent potential:
Reading Tutors spend 4 hours a month with a young person in grades K-6. As a tutor, you’ll read to and with a student while helping them build literacy skills, a love of reading, and the social and emotional skills they need to thrive in school and in life. Staff prepare all the lessons and are available on-site to support.
Youth mentors spend 10-12 hours a month building relationship with a small group of young people in grades 7-12. Together with a co-mentor, you’ll support young people to develop leadership skills, social emotional skills, and positive sense of identity through projects, discussions, field trips and games. Staff help facilitate the activities and are available on-site to support.
