From CEC1: The Federal Government Shutdown and SNAP Benefits: Important Information to Assist You if You Lose Food Aid
This message is meant to provide you with resources that may assist you in the event you, people you live with, or the people you support lose their SNAP benefits as a result of the government shutdown. Unless the government shutdown ends this week, federal support for SNAP will be cut off this Saturday, November 1st.
NYC provides emergency food assistance through food pantries (groceries) and community kitchens (hot meals). Below are resources we have gathered to help you find and locate food assistance:

Monster Mash was a spook-tacular success!
Thank you to our 100+ parent, teacher, and alumni volunteers who made the event such fun for everyone! We could not do it without you!

At the SWS Alumni High School Panel Discussion on October 8, families heard from recent Shuang Wen alumni attending NYC high schools, including Stuyvesant, Bard, Brooklyn Tech, and many more. Email stephanie.chan@shuangwenpa.org if you would like access to the recording. A huge thank-you to Shuang Wen parent Ee Tay for organizing and moderating!
The PA organized an information session to connect 8th grade families with Empower-ED, a free high school admissions support program founded by Shuang Wen alumni attending Stuyvesant High School. View the recording!
The PA was delighted to sponsor Family Math Games Night on October 24, a beloved tradition led by middle school math teacher I-Ling Hsieh. Thanks to our teachers, staff, the Shuang Wen Math Club, and every parent whose generosity made it happen!
