There's a lot happening in Fishtown this month! First up, Happy Halloween! Before the weekend is over, remember to set your clocks back an hour on Sunday, November 1st, when daylight savings time ends.
Looking ahead, our third annual Silent Auction runs November 1–15, Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and we’ve got the Pumpkin Smackdown on November 7 and the 25th Annual Great Fishtown Spelling Bee on November 18, the same night as our Monthly Community Meeting and Board election. |

🗳️ Election Day — Tue, Nov 3 • Polls open 7:00 AM–8:00 PM Make your plan to vote in person, and find your polling place at atlas.phila.gov/voting. Already requested a mail ballot? It must be received by 8:00 PM on November 3, so return it to a drop box (the closest to Fishtown is Shissler Recreation Center, 1800 Blair St).
🎃 3rd Annual Pumpkin Smackdown — Sat, Nov 7 • 10:00 AM–1:00 PM • 2501 E Cumberland St Don’t send your pumpkins to a landfill! Bring them to be composted instead. |

🐝 25th Annual Great Fishtown Spelling Bee — Wed, Nov 18 • Registration 3:15 PM, Bee starts around 4:00 PM • Shissler Rec Center, 1800 Blair St Free and open to students from any school, hosted by FNA and sponsored by the Penn Treaty Special Services District. |
🤝 Monthly Community Meeting & Board Election — Wed, Nov 18 • 7:00 PM • Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E Montgomery Ave Join FNA for our monthly community-wide meeting to hear important updates and share input on topics impacting our neighborhood. This month’s meeting includes our annual Board election. Keep scrolling for more info on the upcoming Board election.
🤝 Monthly Community Meeting — Wed, Dec 16 • 7:00 PM • Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E Montgomery Ave PennDOT and the City of Philadelphia will be presenting plans for safety improvements along Frankford Avenue and answering questions from the community. Results of recent traffic studies and future improvement possibilities will also be discussed. |

Bidding is open November 1st through the 15th, featuring Fishtown favorites donated by our generous local businesses. Items this year include restaurant gift cards, workout classes, show tickets, artwork and more!

Planning to vote in the Board election? You need to have been a verified member within the past 12 months. If you haven’t verified recently, take a minute to submit the form so you’re eligible to vote on November 18. |
The city’s Leaf Recycling Program runs November 2 through December 19. Bag your leaves in brown paper bags only (no plastic) and drop them off on Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM: Nov 7, Nov 21, Dec 5, Dec 12 and Dec 19.
The closest drop-off site to Fishtown is N. American St & W. Thompson St. The city composts the leaves instead of sending them to a landfill.
One tip for anyone with a little outdoor space: leave some leaves where you can. Leaf litter shelters overwintering pollinators, protects tree roots and soil, and breaks down into free mulch. |
