As the crisp autumn air settles in and we step into October, we are reminded of the power of connection, resilience, and community. October is a month of transition, a time to gather our strengths, support one another, and focus on what truly matters: standing alongside our global family through every season.
This month, as we look ahead to new opportunities for impact, our hearts and efforts are centered both on critical emergency response and the continued growth of our core community programs. Thank you for walking this path with us and bringing warmth and hope into the lives of those we serve.
THE PROBLEM WE'RE SOLVING
Families and children affected by displacement across the Americas face systemic barriers to education, healthcare, and social inclusion due to limited institutional support and exclusionary policies, leading to cycles of instability that hinder their well-being, potential, and sense of belonging.
Through community dedication and core programming, we continue to bridge these gaps and measure our real-world impact:
• 👨👩👧👦 2,000+ Families Served
• 📚 300+ Students Tutored
• 🎓 25 Scholarships Awarded
• ✈️ 25+ Service Trips
• 🗓️ 20+ Years of Service

EMERGENCY RELIEF
On August 10, 2026, a devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia just as families were beginning their morning. Homes collapsed, schools and hospitals suffered critical damage, hundreds lost their lives, and thousands lost everything they owned. CBOB is coming together to support three severely impacted communities that need immediate assistance:
CALI: Home to nearly 2 million people, Cali saw 30 buildings collapse, including major structural damage to a central hospital. | PEREIRA: Entire neighborhoods were flattened, disrupting critical infrastructure like the municipal cable cars. Our partner here works directly with the viejitos (community elders) who require specialized care and support right now. | CHOCÓ: Situated right at the epicenter, Chocó is a beautifully rich yet under resourced area deep in the jungle, often reachable only by boat or light aircraft. Its remote location makes immediate relief urgent. |

TRUSTED LOCAL PARTNERS ON THE GROUND:
Partner Organization for Pereira and Chocó: SINDHEP (Sindicato de Defensores y Defensoras de Derechos Humanos de la Defensoría del Pueblo) SINDHEP already has people on the ground in these communities, with trusted relationships with the elderly and with families in the hardest-to-reach parts of Chocó.
