Our Mission: To carry on Ralph's legacy and continue his fight by raising awareness, supporting those battling, and bringing community together to fight in solidarity. And metastasizing (spreading) faith, love, and positivity along the way.

Every year Ralph Hartnagel would run/walk the Mini-Marathon. When it came to getting outside, being active, and being around community, he was all in. It is why he loved this event so much, as it was a way for him to escape all the challenges cancer brought. In 2022 while going through chemo and radiation, and 6 months post-op from a fractured femur from, he completed the 13.1 mile race. Walking the first 12 miles, and then running the final one. In 2023, Ralph's fight got harder, his body got weaker, and was already through 9 rounds of chemo since January. But he wanted to make sure he got to experience this race one more time. A day after his treatment, Ralph was able to complete the first 5 miles. An incredible feat!

For the 2024 Mini-Marathon, Ralph may not be here, but he will definitely be with us in spirit. It was one of his favorite things to do every year, and I know he would want you to experience. So come join our team as we walk the 13.1 miles together. Whether you walk or run, we would love to have you join our team.

Metastatic Mission was born out of the connection that running and a cancer battle had in common. Though running is miniscule in comparison to what those battling go through, they are both mentally and physically demanding. It is why running is at our core as its a way of bringing community together to show up and fight in solidarity.
