Sawyer is a joyful, determined little boy living with Trifunctional Protein Deficiency (TFP)—an ultra-rare, life-limiting genetic disease with no cure. Most children die in infancy, however, Sawyer is defying the odds and is one of the only 100 documented cases in the world fighting this disorder.

TFP affects his body’s ability to turn certain fats into energy and puts him at risk for serious complications affecting his heart, muscles, nerves, eyes, and other organs. Because this disease is life-limiting, Sawyer’s future depends on continued medical care, research, and the development of effective treatments. Even an ordinary illness can become dangerous.

But there is incredible hope! A cure is on the horizon! But in 2021, all government funding was cut and given to COVID research.
