From the very beginning, Miriam’s Promise was built on a simple but powerful idea: no one should have to navigate pregnancy, parenting, or adoption alone.
Our name was inspired by a story of courage, care, and connection, where a child’s future was shaped by the collective support of those willing to step in during a moment of uncertainty. That spirit continues to guide our work today.
Miriam’s Promise exists to be that bridge.
While we are widely known for our work in adoption, our mission has always extended beyond any single path. We serve individuals and families across the entire pregnancy and parenting journey, including those who choose to parent, those exploring adoption, and those simply in need of support, resources, and guidance during an unexpected or complex time.
Originally intended to be a small satellite office of Holston United Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, Tennessee, Miriam’s Promise has grown into a comprehensive, independent nonprofit serving Middle Tennessee and beyond. Established in 1985 and becoming an independent agency in 2003, we have expanded to meet the evolving needs of our community.
Today, we provide counseling, education, and support services that center dignity, choice, and stability. We are not only an adoption agency. We are a resource, an advocate, and a consistent presence for anyone navigating pregnancy or early parenthood.
Because at every stage, and in every decision, support matters.
