Artist at Work
Friday from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM CDT
Hosted by the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture. The event will be held in the Club Room at The Forum.
Are you looking to transform your workplace? The Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture invites your team to “Artists at Work.”
Led by James Adams, Chairman of the Arts Commission for the City of DeSoto, participants will learn how the arts and artists can shape solutions to common organizational goals. This could include refreshing your approach to client services; communicating your mission or brand, broadening audience participation, or marketing to diverse communities.
At the end of the work session, you will have the tools your need to achieve your organizational goals – and a draft budget for making your project come to life.
If your organization is ready for practical and fresh approaches to creative problem solving, join us! Spots for this workshop are limited, so register today!
About the Speaker:
James D. Adams is a veteran community development specialist, youth services program planner, and focused team leader. He has worked in academic institutions, faith-based organizations and with the prestigious advocacy organization, Children's Defense Fund. Mr. Adams' career has advanced steadily, moving from a junior-level program assistant position directing life-skills projects with curiously active young people to overseeing staff, contracts, and budgets as manager for after-school programs directly serving more than 6,000 elementary and middle school students in multiple Texas public and Charter School systems.
Mr. Adams has strategically combined the "street kid" survival skills honed growing up in south Louisiana with the demanding discipline of the performing arts. An accomplished thespian and vocalist, he understands that following directions and being ever prepared are useful transferable skills; skills that have underscored his professional successes. James has a proven record of leading teams and motivating peers to make mission-driven decisions with energy and tactical action. His pay-it-forward attitude makes him a classic servant leader whose depth of compassion is boundless.
He is a second-year graduate student at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD seeking a Master’s in Arts and Arts Administration. Mr Adams currently serves as the Director of Out of School Time for Big Thought, a Dallas-based nonprofit, and Chairman of the Arts Commission for the City of DeSoto, TX. Mr. Adams additionally works on a consultant team as a facilitator and meeting conveyor, managing targeted and specific community stakeholder conversations. This team works with city governments and nonprofit leadership to assess, develop and implement cultural plans on a macro scale.
