Motive Theatrics is a nonprofit arts organization rooted in the belief that theatre changes lives — not just for students, but for communities.

Founded in 2024 by artist and educator Xander Dean, Motive began with a vision:
Create a home for bold, thoughtful, and inclusive theatre that brings people together.

We produce plays and musicals, teach classes and workshops, and offer training opportunities for performers, designers, and creatives of all ages and experience levels. From young students discovering the magic of their first role to seasoned performers exploring new stories, Motive is a space where artistry and community thrive side by side.

Where We Started

Our journey began with a youth summer camp in a repurposed Grange Hall in Tigard, Oregon — with a couple lights, borrowed costumes, and a whole lot of heart. Our first performances proved what we already knew:
There is power in gathering, storytelling, and creating something bigger than ourselves.

In just a short time, we’ve built a growing community of artists, educators, and supporters who believe that theatre should be bold, accessible, and joyful — not a luxury, but a vital part of public life.
