In June, Easterseals will turn 80 years old. Also in June, I will turn 80 years old! (Really.)

This is my last year doing a 10K for the Matthew Fund. And it’s my last time asking you for money. A few years ago, I promised I’d stop when I turned 80. This is it!

Thanks to you, the Matthew Fund has grown and will continue after my final 10K. Many of you have been donating since 2006 when I ran the Boston Marathon during Team Hoyt’s 25th anniversary run.

While I’ve enjoyed receiving your donations, I’ve especially loved your kind and encouraging notes.

With your support this year, the Easterseals/Matthew Fund will continue fostering the kind of world in which Kirk and I would’ve wanted Matthew to grow up. The Fund has:

• Sent Jesse, who says DeafBlind is his superpower, to attend a DeafBlind Retreat on the West Coast. Now he runs his own Retreat here and the Matthew Fund supports it.

• Supported Adriana’s start-up, Puffin Innovations, to create technology for Disabled people that fits itself to them, instead of the other way around.

• Helped Eddie, an online gamer working to build a following and income. He needed a PC upgrade and a 2nd monitor. The Matthew Fund was there to help.
