Despite a year full of challenges for many across the country, our youth’s optimism, hope and courage remind us daily that these unprecedented shifts are moments full of opportunities.

As one of our climbers named Aidan advised, “Keep trying, and kind of listen to your friends and take your time, and you’ll make it to the top. Just push through the hard stuff.”

When the world feels overwhelming, I take a deep breath and hear those words. Even local trips, such as photo hikes in the Blue Hills or cross country skiing in Weston, grounds and refreshes us to keep nurturing our youth. They deserve to access paddling, backpacking, proper gear and other resources for excursions both near and far.

In 2026, it’s more important than ever to make awe-filled opportunities available to youth and families from our most vulnerable communities. Even just 20 minutes outside helps us connect with what fills us up the most, connect compassionately with each other, and connect to the gift of nature, inspiring youth to care for our communities for generations to come.

We’ll continue to nurture our most precious gifts, our young people who are the next generation of environmental stewards, and prepare for the opportunities ahead. Thank you for your gift and encouragement as we join Aidan, and all of the kind and innovative supporters in the Elevate Youth community, to share life lessons and connections through time well spent in nature.
