Meet Joshua

Joshua has been incarcerated since 2016. His daughter is 8, soon to be 9, and this will be only the third time he’s been in her presence. “That alone means a lot,” he says.

The Father-Daughter Dance is a chance to create what incarceration has kept from him. “It strengthens our bond, even being in here,” Joshua explains. “It gives me hope and courage to press forward and change for the better.”

For him, putting on a suit with his daughter at this age feels like success. “It’s only the second time I’ll wear one,” he says. “But more than that, it’s about showing her I’m her father and I love her. I want her to remember this joy forever.”
