Annual Appeal

Since 1980, Maine Youth Leadership (MYL) has worked with Maine youth to seek out, recognize, and develop their leadership skills. Our goal is to motivate Maine’s future leaders and create a network of civic-minded students who will better their communities through volunteering. Our programs encourage and assist students in their quest for self-identification and development. We provide give-and-take discussions with thought leaders and role models across Maine.

Thoughts from a past participant and current MYL volunteer:

"After four short days during the MYL seminar in 2017, I had grown far more than years of time spent in school. The collaborative community of this program, in conjunction with the communication, personal, and leadership skills taught, foster a powerful program. This is the reason that I have returned to the past 8 seminars to volunteer, allowing high school youth to learn and develop skills like I did during my experience."

A note from our MYL Board President:

2026 is here and the Board of Directors is planning once again the development of Maine Youth through our Annual Seminar. Each year we assemble over 100 Sophomores to engage in interactive learning sessions aiming to foster development of problem solving skills, self esteem growth and personal character. Youth leave with enhanced lifelong tools aiding personal growth and community impact.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization we provide this immersive experience FREE of charge to students as we maintain a focus on open opportunity for all Maine students. MYL operates with no paid member, every one time or recurring donation directly impacts a Maine student. Your donation defrays the $400 per student cost to house, feed and engage each Ambassador.

The Maine Youth Leadership Board of Directors annual appeal asks leaders of the Maine community to join us in our efforts to keep our programming free of charge and fund the continuation of Seminar for future generations of Maine Students.
