Hi!

My name is Victoria Madison (Tori). 6 years ago, I lost my younger brother and only sibling to a heroin overdose. We were 17 months apart and very close. Now I have made it my mission to understand the root causes of his addiction and to be a resource and advocate for mental health and the beloved recovery community. Over the past 6 months, I have been developing a product called My Recovery. My Recovery is a mobile health application that helps people in recovery, stay in recovery. We believe that all change is ultimately self-change and that any behavioral change begins with how we think about ourselves and our lives. But in order to change, there must be a paradigm shift in how we view treating addiction, sobriety and recovery. We believe that there are multiple stages throughout the change process. The first step is knowing what stage you are in and then using the right tools and the right resources at the right time to help you change a pattern! Unlike 12 step programs, where many people who are in many different stages of recovery come together, My Recovery is a personal accountability tool that helps you individualize your recovery and take control over your sobriety. Using data analytics My Recovery tracks moods, symptoms and overall wellness metrics. You have the option to connect to a local recovery community, as well as an on-demand virtual peer support recovery coach -allowing you to have more control over your recovery journey.

I started this "friends and family" seed fundraiser to help me bring this product to life. I greatly appreciate your support! Here is what your money will go toward for the end of December, January, February and March of 2020:

75% will go toward the development of the My Recovery app. This includes hiring a team of people to build out the app: UX Designers, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and eventually Marketing, and Sales teams. I am also looking for a technical co-founder.

15% will go toward a deep dive into market research and customer discovery for the app. This includes traveling to treatment facilities and conferences to gain proper knowledge of best practices in the industry. We will hold interviews with those in recovery to identify pain points and to learn how our app can be a better resource to them. We are building an app for people in recovery, by people in recovery and we need your help!

The other 10% will be used to host meetings with local policy and legislative members of the house and congress as well as state representatives, district attorneys, and leaders within the communities of Cobb County and the Metro Atlanta area. Our partners include the GA Council on Substance Abuse and Kennesaw State University's Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery

We will host recovery advocacy training for the recovery community, giving them a voice to speak to their local legislators with authority, charisma and honesty about their individual needs. Our first event is early January in Cobb County. We want laws to be passed to make it as easy as possible for those in recovery to maintain and sustain their sobriety. Also, we are building local Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) across the state of GA. RCOs are independent, non-profit organizations led and governed by people in recovery.
