The cutoff of foreign aid, which constituted about 75% of the government's budget before 2021, has led to unemployment, inflation, and scarcity of basic goods. While these measures were meant to pressure the Taliban regime, the real victims are ordinary Afghan families who are now struggling to survive. Many families cannot even afford to heat their homes, leaving them exposed to freezing temperatures.
