OSDIFGUA - Jose Miguel's Organization

Important note re donations: Please manually change the Givebutter tip to zero. They have a default 15% tip, because they do not charge organizations like ours a monthly fee, like most donor software does. However, they do include an approximately 3% transaction fee similar to PayPal or to other donation software program. If you are willing to cover these fees, that is optional and is a big help! Thank you!

This organization works in the Lake Atitlán area of Guatemala. Founded by Guatemalan social worker Maritza Ovalle and colleagues in 2012, and joined in this work by Guatemalan psychologist Jose Miguel Yllescas, OSDIFGUA (Organización Social para el Desarollo Integral de Familias) which in English means "Social Development for the Integral Development of Guatemalan Families" helps meet many needs in the Santiago Atitlán area. They provide much-needed work in the area of mental health and social development.

They host a Sports Program for at-risk youth, providing an opportunity for young people to experience the teamwork and social benefits of participating in sports. A Mobile Library provides books to help increase literacy in the area. Another project helps empower women economically through supporting the use of ancestral weaving to make beautiful items to sell. This allows them to earn money through the sale of their handiwork.

By supporting OSDIFGUA, you are making a difference in the lives of families in the Lake Atitlán area, in a way that empowers them through community spirit and crucial mental health and economic support.
