Inspiring Women of Glens Falls- Book Project

Inspiring Women of Glens Falls: A Grassroots Project to preserve local history and educate our youth

A dedicated group of volunteers, organized by Elizabeth Little Hogan and Diana Palmer, is assembling a book to honor 50-100 inspiring women with ties to Glens Falls. The project, which includes WCHS Executive Director Teri Rogers, aims to produce a book featuring short biographies and illustrations to be used to as an educational resource for middle school students in the region by providing them a snapshot of the women who have shaped the community in which they now live and to inspire them to embark on their own journey of discovery using local resources like the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library, Warren County Historical Society, the Chapman Museum and more.

Our mission is to identify, research, and write 500-word biographies of extraordinary women who have made significant contributions to the greater community. These formidable women come from diverse fields, including:

  • Government & Law
  • The Arts
  • Education
  • Athletics
  • Philanthropy & Service
  • Business
  • Military & Police
  • Social Reform
  • Science & Technology
  • Medicine & Healthcare
  • Other areas where they have made a remarkable impact

The volunteers are currently in the data-collection and drafting phase, gathering information on the selected women. Once this is complete, we will begin the illustration and editing process, with plans to hire a professional illustrator and editor to bring the book to life. While the book's primary audience is middle school students, we believe it will inspire readers of all ages.

This is a grassroots historical preservation initiative that is supported (though not funded by) the Warren County Historical Society.
