While we are awaiting our first intake of the year, we are having to kick-off the new year with our first Emergency Medical Need...which is not the way we wanted to start 2024...

As we posted on December 30th, Connor was experiencing diarrhea and vomiting (plus losing weight) and because he was in great hands with our partner and friends at Camp Bow Wow - Duluth Georgia and Jeff Hahn, they realized something was wrong and took him to the the emergency vet.

We were blessed that Super-Foster Sheila Cooley jumped into action and headed to the emergency vet to be our ears, eyes and heart to help Connor! After some bloodwork and an overnight receiving IV fluids, Sheila picked in up in the morning and they headed to Blue Pearl in Sandy Springs for an ultrasound to rule out any type of tumor or blockage... and continue fluids. The good news is that the ultrasound was clear. The bad news is that Connor is not out of the woods yet. We are still concerned that he may have a malabsorption issue which could be the cause of the weightloss. Sheila was able to bring him home with a gentle diet, probiotics and antibiotics to get his tummy settled so that we can hopefully rule-out something more serious. Luckily, Sheila is a vet tech and we know that he's in the best hands.

Starting the new year with a huge medical bill is not we wanted 2024 to begin, but here we are...

The total so far is $2800 and we are hoping that with proper diet, we can work through this without more specialized testing and treatment - but if that's what we need to do, we will do it!
