Shabbat Gift boxes for army wives

Since the start of the war, a number of small businesses in Jerusalem and the surrounding area have been individually organizing donations to soldiers and their families. Now, almost 3 months into this war, we have come together to create gorgeous, handcrafted, and elegant gift boxes made lichvod Shabbat (to honor Shabbat).

Shabbat Angels has partnered up with Sourdough Mazal, a Jerusalem based organic microbakery that is coordinating these gift boxes. All the money raised is Tax Deductible through Shabbat Angels’ online platform.

Our goal is to be able to send 25 gift baskets every Friday to a group of miluim (army reservists) wives we are connected to around the country, based in South & Central Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Kiryat Gat.

Each gift basket will have a bottle of a hand crafted boutique wine made locally in the Judean Hills, two organic sourdough artisanal challot, a jar of hand blended organic teas, a handmade bar of locally made soap, and a print from a local Israeli artist made during the war. These items will be packed in a lovely woven basket that will be able to be used for years to come.

The cost of each basket is $100 (400nis)

  • Wine 110nis
  • Challot 80nis
  • Herbal Tea 50nis
  • Soap + gift 50nis
  • Print 50nis
  • Basket 40nis
  • Delivery cost 20nis

If we are able to raise $10,000 we can send 100 gift boxes over the course of a month (25 baskets each week). This would have a tremendous impact on both the small businesses affected by this war, as well as bringing joy to each family for Shabbat.

The businesses participating in this are:

  • Sourdough Mazal (מחמצת מזל) a local organic microbakery in the heart of Baka, Jerusalem
  • Amsel Wines, from winemaker Aryeh, a resident of Baka, Jerusalem. Boutique small batch wines from the Judean Hills.

  • Shoresh Body & Soul Botanicals, run by Nicole Cohen Yechezkel, located in the Binyamin Hills in Neve Tzuf.

  • Michal Berman is an artist who has been painting her way through this war. In addition to being a working local artist, she is an art therapist that works with IDF soldiers that have gone through trauma. She owns Tel Aviv Art Studio, and is trying to connect people through art and Art making.

  • Rising Sap Botanicals, run by Alana Rahmani of Baka, Jerusalem. Herbal teas and remedies made with organic ingredients for women and their families.

For those located in Israel that would like to donate a basket, bank transfer is available upon request. Please contact Yonatan Rahmani on Whatsapp at +972-051-277-2800, or by emailing [email protected]
