We would love to offer these opportunities to as many educators as possible. We will be honored to have the talented marine biologist and science illustrator Sami Chang during the workshop sessions. Through her artwork, she wishes to inspire others to enjoy the natural world around us, hoping to protect it for future generations.

At the STEAM Learning Institute, we advocate for art and imagination as a sort of resilience practice, a cultural invitation not just to prevent AI's flattening effects but also to expand and deepen our imaginative capacities in the face of accelerating technological change.

Event Summary:

Forest Bathing in the Redwoods - 08/9/2025: A synergetic approach to nature connection. Combining field sketching with forest bathing offers a powerful way to connect with nature, fostering both artistic expression and mindful appreciation of the natural world.
Tidepooling at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve - 12/6/2025: Only when waters recede at a low tide does the intertidal zone reveal its majesty to the careful explorer. We will be right there to make scientific observations.
Spring Wildflower Walk in San Bruno Hills - 03/28/2026: You will learn about flower anatomy, field sketching, and painting techniques while practicing observational drawing from live plants in their environment.

This event is open to all educators. We invite K-12 classroom teachers, nonprofit community members, and homeschool educators to join. All registration funds raised will go directly toward scholarships for K-12 classroom teachers.
