For 2024's Steps for Autism, I am raising funds in memory of my mother.
As an educator who taught kindergarten and first grade for nearly 40 years, my mom believed in the promise and potential of EVERY child. As a grandmother, she learned about, and encouraged, the different interests of her six grandchildren.
From her experience with special education, she was one of the first to suggest we keep an eye on the developmental progress of one of our boys, which helped lead to early childhood services. Whether student or grandchild, she treasured each kiddo as they are, with unconditional love.
That's what I appreciate about AuSM. They meet each person as they are and support the uniqueness of every autistic individual. Even if it's only a few dollars, I would be honored if you help support this year's Steps fundraiser! Peace and love, Jon
