With the life-saving skills you've learned in the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid classes, you step forward, calm and prepared. You know exactly how to assess the scene, provide, aid, perform CPR, and use an AED until professional help arrives.

About the Courses
The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. This hands-on training covers crucial techniques such as high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, effective ventilations using a barrier device, and the important early use of an AED. You will also learn the AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components, and the importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performing as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR. Additionally, the course covers the relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants.

The American Heart Association's First Aid course is designed for individuals of any background, medical or otherwise. It prepares students to respond to the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, asses the issue, treat minor problems, and how to know when it's time to call for help. Both the Basic Life Support and First Aid certifications can be used to meet many job, regulatory, and other requirements.
