School Pantries to Feed the Future: NEB Gives Back 2025

Educators are asked to do a lot, and these days, it feels like they’re doing more and more with fewer resources and less support. At NE Basecamp, our mission is to ease that burden by offering meaningful support that truly takes something off their plate. One area where we see educators consistently going above and beyond is in providing snacks and meals for their students—often using their own limited funds—because they know that a hungry brain simply can’t focus on learning.

Teachers care deeply. Their concern doesn’t end when the school day does. Even after they’ve left the building, many are still worrying: Will my students have enough to eat tonight? Over the weekend? During school breaks?

That’s where great community partners like FeedRI step in.

Feed RI partners with schools to install pantries directly within the school community, delivering fresh and shelf-stable food every two weeks, including produce, proteins, dairy, and more. These pantries offer students reliable access to nutritious food in a way that’s dignified and stigma-free. Students are empowered to choose what they need, just like in a traditional grocery store—meeting both their nutritional and personal preferences while helping to close the meal gap.

Feed RI currently operates pantries in 16 schools and youth centers across Rhode Island, including several NE Basecamp partners past and present: East Providence High School, Rogers High School (Newport), Esek Hopkins Middle School, E-Cubed Academy, Nathaniel Greene Middle School, Del Sesto Middle School, and Mount Pleasant High School, to name just a few.

Together, we’re working to ensure that teachers can do what they do best—teach. This winter break, help us to help RI educators spend less time worrying about hunger in their classroom community. For every dollar NE Basecamp raises to support Feed RI's School Pantry Program, we will donate 1 minute of our team's time to volunteer and assist Feed RI in keeping their School Pantries fully stocked so that students can visit and stock up on groceries for themselves and their families before the long winter break.

This Giving Tuesday, help NEB Give back to our school communities by supporting Feed RI's School Pantry Program so that every teacher's students can be full and focused.
