Journalism like NowKalamazoo can't exist without reader support. We rely on individuals, families, and local businesses who know what we know: That a vibrant and diverse information ecosystem is an essential ingredient for thriving communities.

Our country is unfortunately learning that, as newspapers disappear, the things that matter to us all suffer. Local news is the mirror that we as a community look into and hold ourselves to a higher standard. It keeps government accountable. It promotes the new small businesses. It celebrates our people and our success. It's stories, pictures, and ideas that are the story we tell ourselves about ourselves.

Local news is in crisis. Right here in Kalamazoo County. There used to be more than 100 journalists working here, on guard in our service. You don't want to know how few there are now.

NewsMatch will double your impact

NowKalamazoo was lucky enough to be accepted into the NewsMatch program, a national fundraising campaign for supporting nonprofit local news. Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, NewsMatch will match your donation (up to $1,000) adding a dollar-for-dollar match. If you donated $100, NewsMatch will add $100, and NowKalamazoo will get $200. The program is doubling your donation.

NewsMatch even kicks us a bonus if you sign up as a recurring donor: Say you become a $15-a-month supporter. NewsMatch will annualize that figure and give NowKalamazoo $180. What's more, if we're able to sign up 50 new recurring donors, NewsMatch will award us $1,000.
