About NM Kids Matter

At NM Kids Matter, every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported. As the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program serving Bernalillo County, we stand with children who have experienced abuse or neglect and help make sure their voices are heard.

For a child in foster care, life can feel uncertain and overwhelming. A CASA volunteer becomes a consistent, caring adult who shows up, listens, and speaks up for what that child needs. CASAs get to know the child, gather important information, and advocate for the child’s best interests in court, at school, and in the community.

In many cases, the CASA becomes the one steady person in a child’s life, while in foster care. By being present, building trust, and helping others understand the child’s needs, CASA volunteers help children move toward safety, stability, and hope.
