NativityMiguel School of Scranton is a tuition-free, all-scholarship school that strives to educate students of all faiths with the core values of faith, honor, integrity, respect, leadership, and perseverance. Unlike many other schools, NativityMiguel School of Scranton does not receive direct government funding or tuition dollars. To provide this education, our school is totally dependent upon generous donors who truly make this school a reality and a beacon of hope.
Each year, we raise funds through a number of sources, including our Annual Fund, which offers donors a year-round opportunity to contribute to the school and ensure stability in its operating budget. This year, we are asking current and new donors to help us meet our expenses, which continually increase every year. These donors are truly the school's lifeline that keeps our doors open. By donating to the Annual Fund, you can easily make a difference in the lives of the school’s students.
A message from our Chairs:
Dear Friends,
We recently visited NativityMiguel School of Scranton in its home at Marywood University. Ron Prislupski, President of the school, invited us to take a tour and meet some of the students and staff. Mark, a former Board member, hadn’t seen the school since its move and this was Lynn’s first visit.
Three students led us on our tour visiting classrooms, talking with students and teachers, exposing us to both the quality and rigor of the curriculum. Had you read both the Iliad and MacBeth by Eighth Grade? Most of all, we were blown away by the students. They were respectful, engaging, smiling and happy to talk about what they were learning. They were very grateful for what they were being offered realizing that this education will allow many of them to be the first person in their family to receive a college education.
NativityMiguel School started in 2012 with an idea by several religious congregations hoping to meet the academic and social needs of low-income middle school students in our community. Opening its doors in 2015 with a humble enrollment of 15 students, it now boasts 69 students in grades 5-8. Each student receives a tuition-free scholarship funded through the generosity of the community of friends and supporters. For more information about the school you can visit www.nativitymiguelscranton.org.
A key source of funds for student activities like field trips and other educational programs is the Annual Fund. Honored to be the co-chairs for the 2025 campaign, we humbly request that you make a donation to the school. While we would ask you to consider a gift of $200 or more, any amount that you give will be greatly appreciated.
We firmly believe in the NativityMiguel School and its mission of transforming lives and breaking the cycle of poverty. Can you find it in your heart to support the mission and, more importantly, these amazing students who are the future leaders of our community?
Sincerely,
Mark and Lynn Volk
