Fund for Joshua W. Cotter's 'Nod Away' Series

Update (03.01.24) - As of today this fundraiser is at 65%, and I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed so far. I just agreed to take on a large, paid freelance comics project that will take me the majority of 2024 to complete. With the income I receive from doing this freelance project, and in addition to the generous funds I've received here, I should be able to dedicate 100% of my studio time to 'nod away v3' afterwards (barring unforeseen personal and/or external disaster). I'm grateful to be creating a series that so many are eager to read, and I assure one and all that I am doing everything in my power to see it to completion. Thank you. - Joshua

Original Post -

'Nod Away' is my 7-volume comics series,  Volume 1 (2016) and Volume 2 (2021) were both published by Fantagraphics Books. /////// I'm an independent artist and, in order to maintain complete creative control over my work, I am writing / penciling / inking / lettering every page on my own. It's a lot of work and quite time consuming, but I feel comics are my purpose and I do what I can to make it work. /////// Page rates are scant to non-existent in independent comics, and the great amount of time (years) it takes me to finish a volume of 'Nod Away' is in part due to the fact that I need to take on freelance work in order to make ends meet, leaving me with less time to work on comics. No complaints here, as long as I'm drawing I'm happy, but I would like to be able to finish up 'Nod Away' before I lose the ability to hold a pen to old age. /////// I currently have 600 pages finished of a projected 1800+/_. I've never been particularly comfortable asking for help, but the reality is that it's becoming more difficult to get by as an artist these days. If you find yourself with a couple extra bucks, $2 will buy me a nib. If you happen to find yourself in a position to help fund my project in ANY way, you will have my undying gratitude. Thank you for reading. Peace and happiness to you all. /////// Joshua
