Who We Are:

Norristown Page Turners was founded in 2024 by Kate Jaworski and Angela Smith, co-owners of Recycle Read Repeat bookstore. As literacy leaders and educators, they are passionate about helping their community by increasing access to books and offering academic enrichment programming for kids and teens. 

Norristown is a Book Desert:

Norristown is a book desert - an area where homes are unlikely to have 100 or more books. One hundred books is just one bookshelf.

From the U.S. Department of Education:

While less than 15% of students with between 0 and 10 books at home scored proficient in state literacy assessments in 2015, 50% of students with more than 100 books at home scored proficient

The data and research are clear – children who have access to print reading materials have better literacy outcomes.
