Fast food and low-quality options flood food-insecure neighborhoods because large grocery stores refuse to invest in under-resourced communities.

The result?
Poor health. Higher food costs. Families trapped in a cycle they didn’t choose.

The most vulnerable people in our city are the ones most taken advantage of.

How We Make It Happen

🌱 Micro-Markets
Small, strategically placed food hubs inside food-insecure neighborhoods — offering fresh, healthy food at prices families can afford. Because these markets are small, they’re low-cost to operate, and those savings go directly back into the community.

🤝 Community Partners
Local partners distribute rescued and donated food, giving us a steady supply of free or low-cost items that we can offer to families.

💚 Donations That Go Further
Every dollar donated to City Sprout directly subsidizes food costs. Your support immediately lowers prices for a family in need.

🌾 Growing Food Locally
We aim to launch small-scale growing operations to reduce costs further and show the community how to grow their own food — building health, skill, and generational resilience.

When we combine these four components — micro-markets, partnerships, growing, and community funding — we can create highly accessible, low-cost, educational food hubs across every food-insecure community in Springfield.
