Fundraiser for Sterling's Vet Bills

Sterling was a light Sussex hen who came to Painted Rain Ranch Animal Sanctuary from a hoarding situation. She had been so badly neglected she never fully recovered from her trauma. She had ongoing feather-loss and difficulty with balance. She was physically abused, kicked and tormented.

On the ranch, she was treated like royalty. She ate meal worms, sprouted wheat grass and lentils, and loved watermelon. She made friends with Speckie Doodle, a speckled Silky hen and they always found comfort in each other's company.

Sterling's funny, quirky personality started to appear and over the last four years and she eventually trusted me and knew I would never harm her.

She became ill last week, not eating, drinking, and sulking. A vet check could not determine the cause of her issue. Perhaps genetics or something related to her former abusive home.

We made the impossible decision to help her transition peacefully with euthanasia.
