The Mekong Delta, home to 21.5 million Vietnamese has been suffering from increased saltwater intrusion caused by multiple factors including climate change. A new World Bank's featured story, "From Coastal Risks to Resilience: Sharing lessons from Viet Nam's Mekong Delta" emphasized the importance of global collaboration and opportunities in helping Mekong. In November 2025, at least 200,000 homes have been flooded from the weekend’s heavy rains and more than 90 people in the nation have been killed in the past week from flooding and landslides, and around a dozen more are missing.
