Citizens Committee for New York City was founded in 1975, when the city was facing an unprecedented period of financial hardship and more than 10,000 New Yorkers boldly stepped up to help their communities. 

Nearly 50 years later, CitizensNYC continues to invest in the power of community leadership. With your support, we connect New Yorkers with the tools, resources, and platform they need to create lasting change across all five boroughs of New York City. 

The community leaders we support are the ones leading creative arts initiatives, soup kitchens, sports mentorship programs, health workshops for seniors, community gardens, and so much more. They are the small business owners providing opportunities and centers of community for their neighborhoods.
