NOM Challenge (Seattle Makers)

In response to the Covid 19 pandemic, we’ve suspended our usual operations, closing to members and the public, and have turned our focus 100% to filling the need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help prevent the spread of the virus.

We have focused all of our own tools and expertise toward the production of PPE, and we’re rallying and coordinating with our network of makers to have the greatest impact in the shortest time that we can.  We have worked with makers and organizations to develop the following products:

The PPE products we make and collect from our network of Makers are given freely both to the medical community battling Covid 19 and to other members of our community in need, including essential workers, and immunocompromised and elderly neighbors.  We are able to give these out freely due to generous donations from the community.

In more normal times we help educate, inspire and grow the maker community by offering classes, events and a well-equipped makerspace available to members.  We are rolling out more remote events and classes.  We’re inspired by how the Maker community has stepped up to fill a critical need in this crisis and we’re proud to be a central hub for this community.

Since shifting our focus to making PPE, we’ve sacrificed a significant part of our normal operating revenue. Some of our members have generously continued paying membership dues, which has been absolutely essential in keeping us going. However, even after cutting our costs as much as possible and accepting substantial volunteer support, we still need to make up some funding in order to continue giving out PPE as quickly as possible and to ensure our future as a resource for Makers.  If you can, please support us through our donation campaign!
