This year, Hurricane Helene added another layer of hardship, especially for those in recovery. Power outages, displacement, and damage to recovery facilities disrupted the routines and support systems that are critical to maintaining sobriety. Counseling sessions and recovery meetings were canceled or inaccessible, leaving many feeling isolated and vulnerable.

Financial burdens caused by the storm created additional stressors that threatened hard-fought progress.

At ACRN, we are determined to ensure that when crises strike, stronger systems are in place to support those who need them most. Despite these challenges, 2024 has been a year of hope and progress, and together, we’ve accomplished so much.

We’re proud to announce the upcoming opening of Richie’s House of Healing, our first sober living home, in early 2025. This safe, structured environment will provide men in recovery with the stability they need to rebuild their lives and reconnect with their families.

Additionally, we’ve begun planning a transformative Recovery Community on Fairgrounds Road, a space where organizations like FIRST at Blue Ridge and Burke Recovery will work together to offer comprehensive recovery services. These projects represent a critical step forward, but the journey is far from over.
