Who We Are

Serving the Greater Austin, TX community, TRAPRS is a fully volunteer-run 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to help humanely trap, rescue, and provide strategic consulting to lost or stray pet cases.

We specialize in trapping, rescue and rehabilitation of lost pets and stray or abandoned dogs. Our city has transformed over the last 5 years and the number of street dogs (stray and/or abandoned) and the need for support has climbed exponentially. Nearly all of our team carry full-time jobs while dedicating their hearts and time to TRAPRS and the Austin animal community.
In addition to our boots-on-the-ground trapping and rescue work, our team also supports the Austin community with a multitude of other things in the animal welfare space such as:

Offering phone consulting for lost and stray pet trapping cases locally & all over the country -- we've consulted on cases from New York to Washington State!
Scanning, transporting, and cremation support at times for deceased pets on roadways or reported to us
Community outreach of supplies for stray and unhoused pets
Microchip scanning of found pets
Managing a foster program for the stray or abandoned dogs that we rescue and rehab

We believe in remaining optimistic-- giving hope to families who have lost their pets and having hope for some of the most severe street dog medical cases we take on. We see the impossible every day and we're on a mission to share our experiences and the good, the bad, and the miraculous of animal welfare with Austin. We believe deeply in the power of community and we can't do what we do without you.

Our Wish List

The biggest items on our DREAM LIST this year:

- A thermal drone to utilize in lost pet recovery and rescue. Our team has had the pleasure of working with multiple local pilots this year and have had great success using this lifesaving tool. We have a pilot now on our team and being able to purchase a thermal drone that's at the ready for us 24/7 could help save more lives faster! The estimated cost for this tool: $7,500.
- A truck/van for the team to be able to haul equipment to and from cases. Not all of us have a vehicle that can transport all of the size gear we need at times and this can hinder our ability to help the animals we need to. We'd happily take a used one if you know of anyone getting rid of one!

Where do your donations go?

Trapping and Rescue gear: traps, game cameras, emergency gear like rescue harnesses, slings, two-way radios, food to use as bait, trap mats, headlamps, floodlights, etc.
Captured Dog & Outreach Supplies: collars, leashes, tags, jackets, blankets, crates
Foster Program Supplies: beds, toys, food, bowls, shampoo, puppy pads, belly bands, diapers, brushes, supplements, enrichment supplies, etc
Medical Needs: emergency and specialty care, vaccines, spay and neuter and general/integrative vet care, medical supplies + equipment
Cremation Services
Admin Needs: Flyers, tape, staple guns, lamination sheets, posters, markers, marketing materials
