Support Making Nature for All a Reality!
The Outdoor Equity Alliance (OEA) is a nonprofit organization that fosters equity and justice in nature. Our mission is "to create equitable access to nature in all communities and inspire a diverse new generation of environmental leaders."

What sets us apart is our unique approach to creating accessible and inclusive educational, recreational, and career opportunities in the environmental sector. We focus on developing strategies and programs that are effective in empowering marginalized communities. OEA's mission is to break down barriers preventing socially and economically marginalized people from experiencing, enjoying, and benefiting from the outdoors. Below is an overview of the our background, programs, and strategic vision for growth.
At the Outdoor Equity Alliance, we focus on ideas and initiatives that help ensure everyone has fair access to nature and inspire a diverse new generation of environmental leaders. We carefully review these ideas to ensure they align with our mission, have a strong impact, and build on our community partnerships.
These “Big Ideas” guide our strategies:
- Diversifying the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders – Empowering people on the frontlines of climate adaptation to lead in conservation.
- Community-Led Conservation – Supporting communities in creating and managing working conservation lands to meet their social, environmental, and economic goals.
- Urban Forestry for Resilient Cities – Expanding the urban tree canopy to improve community-level resilience to extreme heat and rainfall.
