At Crossroads, our mission is simple yet powerful: to help every child develop the skills they need to thrive at school, at home, and in the community.

Every day, we witness moments that change lives.

Kaber* is six years old and had previously been considered nonverbal. Since joining a school-age classroom at Crossroads, he has made remarkable progress. Just last week, he spoke at least six words in a single day—the first time we had heard him use so many words in one day. We’ve also discovered that he is quick with numbers and loves patterns. His engagement in schoolwork increased from just 0.5% to 76% over a two-month period.

In another classroom, four-year-old Nella* is learning to use her words to ask for a break when she feels overwhelmed and to stay engaged with her classmates. She has stopped running out of the classroom, and her positive interactions with adults and other children have doubled.

These may sound like small accomplishments, but at Crossroads, we know better. For a child and their family, each new word, each successful interaction, and each new skill can be a tremendous milestone—building confidence, independence, and connection.

And sometimes, you can actually hear the excitement. From classrooms and hallways come shouts of joy from teachers and therapists when a child accomplishes something they have been working so hard to achieve.

Those moments remind us why this work matters so much.

They happen because children receive individualized support, dedicated instruction, and meaningful opportunities to learn and grow. And they happen because caring supporters like you choose to invest in their futures.

This year, approximately 120 children are receiving specialized education and therapy services at Crossroads. As we continue to grow and strengthen our programs, we are also working to provide resources that are not covered by tuition or traditional funding sources.
