Who doesn't love that children in our community have access to affordable and sponsored dance classes???
I know I do!
Dance Project of Washington Heights offers this opportunity for children in our community. This wasn't always available in our neighborhood. I know because I grew up here. Over the past 12 years that DPWH has been around, so many children, families, and adults have had an opportunity to experience the joy of dance and community through its space, wonderful teachers, and staff!
This is what I love about the Dance Project. My children, my spouse, and I have taken classes, attended performances, and shared in community with others here. Like many families, we also rely on the winter, spring, and summer camps that DPWH has hosted, which expose our children to so many dances from around the world, art, outdoor time, and new friends from different parts of Washington Heights. A huge help to have in our own neighborhood.
But keeping DPWH serving our community requires a lot of financial support. The last few years have been very challenging on that front, and the changes ahead as the result of the election bring many uncertainties for small neighborhood organizations. At the same time, community and neighborhood-centered approaches become more important than ever before, and that is where I will be putting my energy. This is why I am fundraising for DPWH.
For Dance Project to continue to do wonderful work in our community, we really need your support. Please consider donating this Giving Tuesday. I know there are many good causes, but for those in our neighborhood, supporting DPWH supports our community. For my artist and art-loving friends, this is how we continue supporting a new generation of dancers and enthusiasts. For those of you who understand the power of community arts organizations, this is a wonderful one to support. As always, any little bit helps.
Will you help me reach my goal?
In community,
