Every gift helps Jefferson East, Inc (JEI) turn everyday challenges into lasting strength. For more than three decades we’ve stood with neighbors, small businesses, and families across the East Jefferson corridor and surrounding neighborhoods - Jefferson-Chalmers, Marina District, The Villages, Rivertown and Lafayette-Elmwood Park- helping people secure stable homes, build and sustain businesses, and reclaim public spaces so our community can thrive. Our story

Jefferson East believes resilience is not a buzzword, it’s a framework for action. We lean into four interconnected pillars that guide everything we do: Resilient Homes, Resilient Humans, Resilient Businesses, and Resilient Neighborhoods.

Our services range from helping small businesses thrive, and first-time homebuyers get on the ladder, to placing trusted DV advocates where survivors need them, training local entrepreneurs in digital skills, helping homeowners stay safely in their homes, and providing disaster preparedness training, our work strengthens the systems that let people and places thrive.

We assist homeowners with critical home repair, help aspiring homeowners to access the tools they need to realize that dream.

Through our Connected Learning Center, entrepreneurs and residents can access self-paced courses and engage in a variety of workshops.

We lead neighborhood beautification and safety programs, like CompStat - in partnership with Detroit's 5th and 7th Police Precincts, and our Clean Ambassador program, which helps to keep the corridor clean.
