I’ve spent the last 33 years living in the Caribbean, and in that time, I’ve seen more suffering in horses than anyone should witness in a lifetime. It’s something that never leaves you and it’s what drives me every single day.

Thoroughbreds are truly majestic creatures. They give everything they have on the track, and too often, they’re discarded when the races are over. But to me, they’re not just athletes they’re sentient beings full of heart, grace, and spirit.

I consider it an honor — and a responsibility — to be their voice.
This work isn’t just my job. It’s my mission. It’s my legacy. And it’s my promise:
That every horse who gave their will have the chance at a life after racing — a life filled with care, dignity, and peace.

For more than a decade, the CTA team has worked diligently to provide a responsible process for Thoroughbreds that have been brought to the islands for racing, to be returned off the racetrack in healthy condition and ready for new careers and happily ever after's.

As a groundbreaking strategy for horse rescue and retirement in the Caribbean, CTA takes pride in its service to these horses and to the many (primarily stateside) adopters, and sister aftercares who each play a vital part in the multi-faceted life journey of this noble and distinctive breed; the American Thoroughbred.

Hundreds of Thoroughbreds arrive in Puerto Rico and surrounding islands each year and hundreds are euthanized and abandoned. The challenges of transitioning them back to the States are many, but our commitment is strong. We believe every racehorse deserves a happy ending - particularly if that race career ends in a remote Caribbean destination.

Durante más de una década, el equipo de CTA ha trabajado diligentemente para brindar un proceso responsable para que los purasangres traídos a las islas para competir sean devueltos de las pistas en condiciones saludables y listos para nuevas carreras y una vida feliz para siempre.

Como una estrategia innovadora para el rescate y retiro de caballos en el Caribe, CTA se enorgullece de su servicio a estos caballos y a los numerosos adoptantes (principalmente estadounidenses) y cuidadores posteriores, quienes desempeñan un papel vital en la multifacética trayectoria vital de esta noble y distintiva raza: el purasangre americano.

Cientos de purasangres llegan a Puerto Rico y las islas circundantes cada año, y cientos son sacrificados y abandonados. Los desafíos de su regreso a Estados Unidos son muchos, pero nuestro compromiso es firme. Creemos que todo caballo de carreras merece un final feliz, especialmente si su carrera termina en un destino remoto del Caribe.
