Something remarkable happened in Murphy this summer.

About 45 people gathered together: neighbors, friends, strangers who became friends, for the first-ever Our Space WNC Pride celebration hosted by the Cherokee County Arts Council. We sang karaoke, built relationships, and proved something that rural Appalachia doesn't always get to see: that the LGBTQ+ community is here, it's real, and it shows up. We partnered with local businesses, created space for joy and connection, and left that evening knowing this was just the beginning.

We need your help to keep the momentum going. Your donation will fund three things:

Our 501(c)(3) filing: making Our Space WNC an official nonprofit so we can pursue grants, accept tax-deductible donations, and build something lasting for the LGBTQ community in far western NC.
Monthly community gatherings: low-key, welcoming events throughout the year where people in our area can find their people without driving hours to do it.
Pride 2027: we're already dreaming about next year! Your support helps us plan bigger, reach further, and make it even more special.

And this is only the start.

We're also developing programming around women's health and other projects that serve the people who need visible, affirming community most. In rural Appalachia, isolation is real. So is belonging—when we build it together. All donations received will go directly to creating safe, inclusive, and communal space in far WNC for all people.
