Giving Tuesday

Everyone deserves to take a shower. It takes 8 minutes to take an average shower. It takes just 4 minutes for a choking person to become unconscious and have brain damage. It takes 4-6 min after brain damage for death to occur. Caregivers that have a child with cerebral palsy or a medical disability don't have the leisure of taking a shower whenever they want, let alone on a daily basis because they don't have the support or help to allow them to do so without the fear of their child choking on their own saliva because they have dyshphagia or a tracheostomy tube. Their Voice of Greater Cincinnati, Inc is a nonprofit 501c3 organization and we provide respite hours for our caregivers so that they have time to tend to self and just take a shower! We pour love and life back into the caregivers so that they can continue to pour it back to their loved one with cerebral palsy.

Tammy Floyd- Westmoreland, the President started this organization because of the love and passion she has for her late son D'Jonté Malik who was diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy, a congenital disorder that affects muscle tone, movement and posture. Cerebral palsy is caused by abnormal brain development, often before birth. Studies show that about 764,000 children and adults currently have cerebral palsy. About 500,000 children under the age of 18 and about two to three children out of every 1,000 have cerebral palsy. Currently about 8,000 babies and infants are diagnosed with cerebral palsy each year. The estimate suggests that one in five children with disabilities experience neglect and one in ten have experienced sexual violence. Providing in home respite care can help prevent the neglect of the child or adult with cerebral palsy.

Their Voice of Greater Cincinnati mission is to uplift, inspire and support families affected by cerebral palsy. We provide education, support, and resources for families affected by cerebral palsy and other intellectual and physical extra needs. Tammy understands the stress and hardships that comes along with caring for a child with special or "extra" needs. Our CEO/Founder is making it her life's mission to help as many families as possible because she knows and understands from her own personal experience what it is like not having support or the proper resources. Everyone deserves to take a shower!
