Big Day of Giving 2023

Your gifts this Big Day of Giving will help the horses (and other equine) in so many ways including providing feed, veterinary care, hoof and dental care, vaccines, deworming, and whatever they need. Considering it costs, on average, between $5 and $10 per day to provide basic care to the typical horse, that adds up fast. And, that doesn't include diagnostics, treatments, medications, surgery, emergency care, or any of the unknowns that come with new intakes. Costs add up fast, especially when AAE is usually caring for 50 or more horses, but so, too. can your donations!!

Your donations help assure we have ample and ongoing funding for the care for the horses and other animals.

AAE's Needs:

- Support for horse care. The average daily cost for care for a horse is $5-10 or more, depending on special diets, medications, or other special needs.

- The average monthly cost for basic care of an average horse is approximately $150-$300 which includes feed, hoof and dental care, vaccines, and deworming. This does not include urgent or emergency care.

- Emergency veterinary care fund helps provide care when its needed most for horses and other equine, such as diagnostics (e.g. bloodwork, radiology, biopsy, etc.), treatment, medications, surgery, or emergency situations for injury or illness. Monthly veterinary services costs average $7000, which includes urgent/emergency care and basic care costs.

- Healing Horses Barn at AAE's new location in Pilot Hill for operations and future programs to assure our most fragile equine won't need to endure another cold, wet, muddy winter without adequate protection. We can’t build it without you!

- Other improvements for the new property include cross-fencing, shelters for paddock and pasture areas, quarantine barn, a covered arena, an office, and other equipment needs.

- Volunteers to support all aspects of operations including horse care and handling, training (expert level), grant research/writing, administration, fundraising/events, used tack store support, future horse-human programs, board members to expand and diversify our board.

- A gently used travel trailer for housing an onsite caretaker or trainer.
