The Ethel J. Roldan Center for Cultural Awareness (the Center) is a non profit 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide culturally competent, specialized services for youth and their families of our diverse community, and to act as a liaison to other agencies that are necessary to heal, empower, educate and embrace our families; and has been very successful at this mission for over 30 years!

The Center is a self sustaining, small organization and it's main source of funding has been grants. Most grant monies the Center received were earmarked for specific youth programs and programming the Center has offered; but those funds could only be used for those SPECIFIC program costs, resulting in the Center experiencing a funding SHORTAGE for payroll taxes. The Center has attempted on several occasions to work with the IRS to resolve this outstanding balance to no avail (not enough discretionary funds) leaving no other choice than for the Center to suspend ALL services; (Afterschool Program, Bridges of Prevention "No Shame in our Game" (mental health stigma reduction), community food pantry, boys mentoring, resource services and more!

This Givebutter campaign and YOUR generous contribution will help the Center REDUCE (or prayerfully payoff) the outstanding balance owed to the IRS, RESUME much needed services that our youth and community severely need, and provide the Center with funding that will allow the Center to RE-OPEN with a cushion of funding to help sustain the organization for years to come.
